African Leadership’s 20th Anniversary Leadership Retreat

2

By the grace of God, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary for the African
Leadership since its establishment. To celebrate this remarkable year, the
20th Anniversary Retreat Conference was held January 16-19 in the main hall of the Cape Town African Leadership Center.

It was a special time for both the founding members of the United States, Canada, Germany, and Singapore and the African leadership families all over the world. Together we shared the image of God’s kingdom on this land and deepened the understanding of God’s mission through worship, praise, and seminars during our retreat.

Uniform Ministry

3

The semester year begins in January in South Africa. Elementary and junior school students wear uniforms – but those who cannot afford to buy uniforms, are teased by other students. And it is a sign of poverty. African leadership provide these students with uniforms, shoes, socks, pants and shirts every year. This year, we distributed 300 uniforms across the area. Most of these students wear new clothes for the first time in their lives, so they get very excited. With $30 USD, you can provide an uniform to one student. Thank you Lord for taking care of these children. We appreciate your generous support and continuous prayers for this ministry, and I am thankful that we can share this wonderful story with you.

Kindergarten building construction project

4

The 37th kindergarten is being built with the support of American Leadership International, as well as the short term mission team from the So Myeong Junior High and High school and Uijeongbu Sinchoin Church. This Kindergarten is in the area that has recently expanded around the Monabishi Park. A lot of homeless people are gathering in this area as they do not have anywhere to go, and there are many illegal housings in the area. For the past few months, approximately 3000 illegal houses were built. We found out about this area through the connection with the village leader, Nandiphe, and the kindergarten started earlier this year. Currently this kindergarten has 26 students and when the construction
is over, more children will be able to join the facility. This is also a great
news to many people who cannot work because they do not have an access to childcare. Lord, let the love of the Lord be witnessed through this kindergarten. Let this kindergarten and children praise the Lord. May the children be well looked after in the name of Jesus.

Food Ministry for needy families

5

In December, to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christmas, we
hosted a food sharing event. December and January are usually the toughest months for the people in this area, since there are many holidays. They cannot find jobs during the holiday season. African Leadership shared food and gifts during this tough time with 205 families in the area. We pray that they will not lose hope in the Lord and experience the love of Jesus, who is walking side by side with them in the midst of hardships.

Madagascar Amphasinda Elementary School building project

The GT African Leadership construction project of an elementary school in Ampasindava village has almost come to the end. This project aims to rebuild the school buildings in the areas that were destroyed during the cyclone in 2016. For many children who have not been able to study after the disaster, this is a great news!

Madagascar Bethany Mission Hospital

7

On December 18, last year, Bethany Mission Hospital was established in
Mangarano area of Toamasina.

Despite the shortage of medical equipment and equipment, 1,050
patients received surgery and medical treatment at the end of January.

Currently, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics are in operation, and soon, dentists will be added to lead the health and mission of the people.

Prison Ministry in Madagascar

8

We have heard that many inmates in Toamasina prisons are suffering from malnutrition.

Since September 12, 2018, a prison ministry program has been started
and we have been sharing food with inmates for the past 5 months. Numerous inmates who nearly lost their lives are recovering through this project. We also share the gospel of the kingdom with the food. The number of Christians is increasing among Bethany prison churches.

Madagascar Nest Immanuel School

9

The nest Immanuel School started in 2019, and many parents attended the opening ceremony.

Students have been in school for three days a week from the beginning of school until last year, but from this year onwards they have come to school every day. On the first day of school, the children cleaned up and arranged the classroom. It is the God’s school! I pray that God will be glorified through the Immanuel Nest School.

Resume of Lesotho Seminary

Theological education was resumed in 2019. I am responsible for two transfers and two places. Please pray for continued healthy operation and transfer.

Lesotho Police Pastor on theological training

After the launch ceremony last year, full-fledged police training is under-
way. Education is held in the local area on Thursday, and in the capital area on Friday. Please pray that this becomes a cornerstone of police evangelization, and then for the opportunity to evangelize the army and prisons.

Jesus Village in Swaziland

12

It has been six months since we moved into the Jesus Village in Swaziland.

The building is still under construction. We are on a busy day because the short-term vision trip team is on the way. Prayer House, Grace House and Joy House were completed, and Peace House, a family room, are almost completed. 23 kindergartens are registered in the completed kindergarten, and they receive Christian education every day.

On Fridays, there are about 180 children attending children’s worship service. There are 2 weekly after-school classes and computer education for 10-23 children.

From January 10th to 20th, the first mission team of 38 dispatched from the church VTMs visited and ministered with us.

Two mission teams visit in February. We are also preparing a prayer conference and a sacrifice in March. We want to experience God’s work and strengthen our faith by grace. I am delighted to share the grace of the Lord working through the African Leadership.

ATC (African Seminary)

13

Starting February 2, classes began with the opening worship service and seminar. In the first year, Dr. Shiwella teaches [spiritual life] classes, and Pastor Mphemie teaches [Bible hermeneutics] and 23 students take classes. We are praying that there will be around 40 students enrolled. I would like to ask that more pastors come to study and change their lives and that they will be able to stand up in the right faith, the right theology. In the second year, Pastor Kim In sik is teaching [In the Middle Ages] and Pastor Kaipas is teaching [Exodus]. Pray for the newly-registered theological students to adjust and study well.

KING’S KIDS CHILDREN MINISTRY

14

A friend who is doing a Korean ministry in Japan is supporting scholarship for preschool students from his church (R200, about 10 people support) since 2014. The children who started in kindergarten became elementary school students. As students enter elementary school, they are exposed to a variety of bad things. In order to change this situation, on the day of delivering the scholarship every month, we met with mothers and children and began to communicate the word of God. I also decided to plant a Christian worldview and started a small children’s ministry in January under the name of King’s Kids (place: Kaeliche Theological Seminary).

In January, we starwlted with praise and dance, and we talked about creation of heaven and earth. I want children to know that God is the main master of creation of the universe. At the time of the activity, I wanted them to draw the pictures (animals, birds, humans, etc.) on white paper as if God had filled the empty universe and earth with beautiful creatures.

In February I taught the children that God gave Adam the responsibility
of naming various animals. We played a game of matching animals. “God
knows your name, and counts your hair. When I call the name, please raise your hand. “ I put a sticker with the child’s name on them and put it on the chest of the child. A smile of happiness came to the face of the children.

Mother’s school

The 10th Mother’s School will be held from March 29 to March 31. There is a change of role as usual, and more prayer is needed. We need prayer especially for the new host. Pray that God will take care of the roles assigned to each one with wisdom. Pray that the Holy Spirit will meet each person. Pray that grace will be added to the abundant sharing. And pray for the safety and finances of the way to and from.

If mother is happy, family is happy!

South Africa Worcester Relief / Farm School Ministries

15

Those who spend their lives on the streets need the gospel of the Lord.
We share the gospel with them, share food, and share clothes and blankets. All faculty and students come together and worship every Friday every day. In worship, we all pray for revival that will be filled with the glory of the gospel in this land.

Church planting ministry

16

Following the Lord’s calling, I go on a path of pioneering that I have never been to.

I am just obeying God’s Word. One of God’s most pleasurable churches, the House Church, is an alternative church for the New Testament churches, African churches.

The main ministry targets are those who have come to South Africa from neighboring African countries such as Zimbabwe, Congo, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia for various reasons.

Of course, we will also do evangelism to South Africans. The new church begins on March 10th under the name of Yang Dong Jeil Eun Hye Church.
First, please pray that various things needed for church are filled. Secondly, please pray that God will send workers to start the pioneering work together. Finally, please pray that we will always be more filled with the Holy Spirit, and that we will be able to focus more on prayer and the words of God, so that I and my wife will always be sensitive to God’s calling.

South Africa East London “We are special” children ministry

18

“We are special” character education

At Duncan Village Masake Elementary School, we have started character education that combines art to make children like God’s character as last year.

We continue to teach the first grade we taught last year. This year, 200 students in the second grade take classes in order to watch the children’s changes and their growth in the faith. The teachers have all changed, but the children are the same as last year. Students have a high level of concentration and interest in the class. We are delighted to share and
learn about the Word of God and our image of God.

“We are special” Children Bible School

There is a limit to telling the Bible in public schools. The children come to bible school after their school to worship. Thank God. The children of Mompei Sane community center praise and worship together with joy. I am so happy to teach the Word of God and share His love with my children. Lord, these children are the masters of the Lord’s kingdom. Please use the children to change this land. During the vacation, the warehouse that I worshiped last year was dismantled and I was upset. I pray that we will have a place where we can continue to worship together.

Children’s Church Teacher Seminar

19

The Children’s Church Teacher Seminar was held at the African Leadership Center from January 11th to 13th.

Many children’s church teachers, close to Cape Town, including Kalitsha, participated and learned how to evangelize and nurture children in words and in various ways.

In addition, many textbooks and evangelism books that have been prepared by Pastor Sook-Bum Ko and Deacon Sung Joon Hyung were produced in English and KOSA. Local Sunday School teachers liked this book and booklet very much. The children’s evangelism pop-up book
was filled with their passion and love for the children’s church and teachers.

Special Me Conference

20

An English bible storybook “Special Me” visited the Cape Town, to the African Leadership Mission Center. We held a conference for two nights and three days. We introduced the educational materials that are composed of English fairy tales and songs, rhythms, and animations, which are easy to learn and have fun with the subject of the word-centered Christian personality education. It was time to introduce the various educational methods needed for missionaries and teachers who are working with kindergarten and children ministries.
