The way to express the kingdom of God has changed.

The vertical relationship is in a one-dimensional time: We had built a pyramid- structured society by developing the vertical relationship with God as well as with humans. However, Jesus came to the earth and showed that there was another type of relationship we could have with God which was horizontal and He saved us by dying upon the cross.

Humans have understood Jesus in the vertical relationship but God showed us the horizontal relationship by showing His will with the rise of individualism. It took 2000 years for us to understand the concept of the horizontal relationship with God.

By that time, God also gave us the Holy Spirit as a gift in the third dimension of time and it also took 2000 years for us to understand this concept. In other words, in the one dimension, people obeyed and feared God and followed his will by being humble in their relationship with God.

In the second dimension, it was all about Jesus. He came to this world and he died upon the cross. In this time, people tried to be like Jesus and to live as his followers and Jesus was the centre of the way to express the kingdom of God and people expressed the kingdom of God by following Jesus.

In the third-dimensional time, we have the Holy Spirit and we build the kingdom of God with the Holy Spirit. In other words, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, humans as the centre shows God who is omnipresent. Each individual Christian is writing their own bible based on the relationship they have with God. It is also the time that each of us represent God and by that we can express the recovery of the Kingdom of the universal God. In this time, everything has to be for the kingdom of God, to be revived and to show the kingdom of God.

In the 21st century,
To show the glory of God in the universe,
To express God’s will all over the world,
To see God in all of His creation.

To show His glory in us,
To see His Kingdom in our home,
To make our work place Hhis Kingdom,

To make the economy show His kingdom,
To make politics represent His image,
To make schools be the schools in His kingdom,

To make our relationship with each other express His kingdom,
To make our words be the words of His kingdom,
To make our thoughts be the thoughts of His kingdom,

Eat for the kingdom,
Work for the kingdom,
Study for the kingdom,
Meet people for the kingdom,
Exclaim, ” for the kingdom!” in every moment.

For the kingdom,

I like individualism so I like the 21st century.

The 21st century being individualistic is a gift from God. It is a pleasure and privilege to live in this individualistic 21st century. I believe that God has been leading the history of this world. It is God who allowed us to have individualism.

Humans have been learning the vertical structure through their relationship with God. However, God showed us that we can have a horizontal structure with others through our vertical relationship with His son, Jesus Christ. It was a revolution.

People have become so used to the vertical relationship; it produced people who saw themselves as privileged groups with vested rights. However, God taught us individualism and introduced a concept of the horizontal structure 2000 years ago when Jesus came to this world.

History of Creation: Adam and Eve were part of the horizontal structure. Eve was the one who helped Adam. In this context, the one who helps is the one who humbly serves but “the helper” was misunderstood as a slave in the context of the vertical relationship. In the human point of view, women were looked down because Eve was created after Adam but in God’s point of view, the appearance of Eve was the end to the history of Creation. In the climax of creation, God put Eve there by creating her last.

We have this history that made us misinterpret serving as obeying and then history fell because of human pride and so Jesus came to this earth. He came in the same figure of a human, being treated equal with us, he bore the cross to save us and to give eternal life. All of this to show that the vertical relationship was not the only relationship we were to have with God.
God, let us have a horizontal relationship with Him as His children. He told us that we are one with Him. Even though He told us that we are all equal in Him by introducing the concept of the horizontal structure, people still live with the vertical structure in mind in the 21st century.

This is God’s grace. Oh, Lord, you are the one who is leading history in this world. You are the one who brought the concept of the horizontal structure in human history. We are equal. Women and men are equal. Everything is equal in God. However, there are still people who keep the vertical structure with their own power, materialism, and knowledge. Power is also something God gives us to let us serve Him better but we misuse the power and act as if we were God. We try to control everything by seeking and obtaining wealth. They don’t know that the more they have and use in this world, the more God demands of them If we have a lot of knowledge…if we study hard and obtain many degrees, we need to share what we learn. In this world, knowledge is not power we can take advantage from. This is what God gave us to use for serving others. How miserable it is to see people abusing gifts that are for their benefit.

God’s kingdom.
The vertical relationship with Him.
His Kingdom.
The horizontal relationship with Him.

Lord, help us live for your kingdom. Let us follow your words and serve you by serving others. Paul told us to treat others better ourselves. Encourage us to always remember this and be like Jesus who came to earth to serve and not to be served. Help us experience the ways of serving for your kingdom and let us be in your kingdom always.

For the kingdom,

Expression of his Kingdom: I exist because you exist.

We cannot live alone, we cannot exist on our own. The world that God
created – I believe that in God’s world, the word “alone” does not
exist. When God made people, he created a world for living together,
not for one.
God’s kingdom is not a place to live alone.
God’s kingdom is not a place to get to alone.

In the midst of this world is God’s kingdom…
A world to live together
A world to interact with one another
God is with us
God is presence within us
God walks with us

There is a thought here in Africa that someone exists because I am
here. Because I exist, my children exist; because I am here, my wife
exists; because I am here, the world exists. This is a common worldly
thought. If I were to express this thought in Kingdom thoughts..
Because the world is here I exist (because God created the world and
he created me and gave me authority)
Because my wife exists, I can be a husband
Because my children exist, I am a father
Because there is work, I have a job.

These are some of the beautiful expressions of God’s kingdom:
Because my wife exists, I exist
Because my children exist, there is worth to my existence
Because there is work, I am joyful and thankful to be working
Because you exist, there is worth to my existence

Lord! Transform Africa to your kingdom, include Africa in your
kingdom through your work here.
Make this a common thought here in Africa: because you exist, I exist
There is meaning to my life because there is someone for me to serve.
My life’s worth is in how much I can love, serve and care about others.

In God’s kingdom…
I am here because God is here
I am useful because God is working
I live because God exists

Let’s make God’s kingdom come through these confessions
I exist because you’re here
By serving you, I have joy, I am thankful, and I am becoming whole

For the kingdom,

God’s Kingdom – Kingdom morning… on the way to Khayelitsha

There is a thought that enters my mind every morning as I drive to Khayelitsha. What God wants is to develop His Kingdom in the middle of this land. There is a declaration that I shout daily during my drive: Lord! Khayelitsha is your land. Lord! You declared that Khayelitsha is your kingdom while you bore the cross. You saw beforehand what would happen 2000 years later in Khayelitsha, and you proclaimed it as your own. Make it happen through me, your servant. May the world see Khayelitsha the way You see it. Lord! I know without a doubt that you put me here to establish your Kingdom here. Lord! I shout without hesitation that I am here! Use me! I want to be your tool as you form Khayelitsha to your vision according to your Kingdom. Today, I want to see a better Khayelitsha as part of Your Kingdom. I want to be part of materializing your vision of the Kingdom. Make everything I do become a blessing to the Kingdom. May every thought, every action, every meeting and every effort in every moment become your Kingdom. Lord! I face Khayelitsha with Your eyes, with Your heart, with Your mind and I look to your Kingdom.

I was thinking this morning on my way to Khayelitsha, “in God’s kingdom, who would receive the most respect? What type of person would be the most popular? Most mighty? Who would God honor?” Immediately I had a very simple answer. People who clean after others… those who do the work people hate to do, things that the lowliest have to do…

people who excel in school! People with tons of money! The successful! People with power! Smart people! No matter how much I think about it, I know that it’s not these… not that they are bad just because of what they have. If they boast and look down on others with their positions and possessions, what they have gained will just cause them harm in the end. One thing is for sure: as a citizen of God’s kingdom, if one can joyfully do anything that others hate to do, God will honor them. Someone that can truly serve others, one that is selfless… even though one is able to gain and possess much, to give it all up to humbly serve… God will undoubtedly honor them. The mighty in heaven… one who is humble and has a servant heart. One who sacrifices and gives, and is modest – this is experiencing the Kingdom, this is the life of the Kingdom.

Father! Make me one who only looks to the Kingdom beyond this world. Make me one that you would honor in your Kingdom, a person of your Kingdom. I want to be made of humility and servanthood. Grant me the joy of surrender and sacrifice so that I may reside in the Kingdom.

This morning I woke up and shouted, “For the Kingdom!” and a feeling of the existence of eternal life came to me. I will live eternally! Even if I die, I’m not dead! When realizing that I will live eternally, the world seems like such a trivial place. Why do we toil at such aimless and meaningless things! Is it because of our pride? I laugh at myself, always trying to eat one more piece, one more bite, one more sip. I realize once again, in me is eternal life… I think about the things I seek after, the useless things, the things that will rot away, how I get hurt, waste time, hurt others…

When I think about living eternally… everybody is so precious… the poor, and the weak, whom I can help, makes me smile. May those who boast of their education seek wisdom of the Kingdom, and may those who lack knowledge have courage to seek God.

Eternal life exists; everything is God’s grace. Only when we realize the fullness of God’s grace can we be thankful for all things. Eternal life!!! Father God, I am your child. Your forever Kingdom, your child of your Kingdom. I have everlasting life.

I raised my thumb, as I usually do, and said to Nosipho, “For the Kingdom!” but she just smiled and replied, “I know”.

- I was inwardly slightly disappointed. There’s nothing as good as the Kingdom… even the reason my whole family is in Africa is for the Kingdom… when you declare for the Kingdom, He gives you wisdom, and the ability and joy of knowing and living for the Kingdom.

My wife isn’t feeling well, so I brought food to the kindergarten. While arriving at Rainbow Educare center, I saw many little children raising their thums, yelling Ubukamkani (for the Kingdom in Khosa).

- Lord! Establish your kingdom in the midst of their lives. Take your place in their lives, even in the midst of the small and dirty building where they spend most of their time. Remember me in my tiredness after circling all many the different kindergartens, with laughter and joy… the peace of the Kingdom…

I had a meeting with a new missionary. Lord, we meet for the Kingdom.

- I was overjoyed to see this new missionary, to see how you will use him, how lovely it is to serve you. Lord, I want to serve him and lead him to be a great missionary. Make him a missionary who only looks to the Kingdom.
While watching my wife sleep, I want to shout for the Kingdom, and naturally thank God who gave me my wife. How much I love my wife!

- I say to my wife, you are the life of my life, the bone of my bones. In a word, honey, you are me, I am you. Isn’t this truly experiencing God’s kingdom?

To all my brothers and sisters serving God and working for the Kingdom… I humbly share my thoughts with you. Everything in me only hopes for the Kingdom.

To my forever family, who live for the Kingdom

I woke up and shouted, for the Kingdom!

- God granted another day for the Kingdom… with overflowing joy, I looked forward to the day with thanksgiving and expectation and excitement… I will take on the day for the Kingdom.

While on the toilet, I shouted, for the Kingdom! It was a little bit embarrassing.

- after some more thought, I decided to be rid of uselessness, dirtiness and foulness.

While eating with my wife at the dining table, I shouted for the Kingdom! Inwardly and raised my spoon.

- that’s right, with the Lord’s strength and with all my being let’s make His Kingdom come. Lord! I want to follow and worship only You!
While driving to Khayelitsha, I yelled, “for the Kingdom!” pretty loud. (no one was around, and this is a great time to talk privately)

- then I was faced with a dilemma. How do I drive for the Kingdom. I always drive rudely, tailgating cars in front, trying to cut in front of others, my rude driving habits… Lord! I want to drive without causing other drivers to be angry. So I drove while allowing others to go in front of me, and even smiled at them. (this felt great)

Driving to Khayelitsha, Lord! I’m going to Khayelitsha for the Kingdom. You died for the people of Khayelitsha 2000 years ago, you bore the cross, you want this to be Your Kingdom. Give us your vision and the ability to share your vision for Khayelitsha with others.

These are some thoughts I wanted to share with coworkers of the Kingdom. I hope to write a short entry every other week. I hope to share your responses, experiences, and thoughts together.

For the Kingdom,
