Dear treasured friends in mission,

With the scene of gospel becoming established through these servants in Khayelitsha, we realize that your prayers are with us. Witnessing the children change, we feel your prayer surrounding us. In these scenes where youths become committed as Sunday school teachers, we see your continuous interest and prayer for the mission. Thank you, thank you, and Thank you again.

For the last few years, the ministry in Khayelitsha of Cape Town has focused on children’s ministry. Khayelitsha is a black people’s area where a population of one million makes a living in severe poverty.. There are rows of squares in which houses are poorly built with rotten iron or wasted wood… a place represented by ragged clothes and hunger… depressing because of crime and AIDS… but we proclaim that there is hope, as we look towards the Lord. We know there is hope because of Jesus. We go to Khayelitsha, shouting ‘for the kingdom!’ everyday. When we look at Khayelitsha with the eyes of Jesus, we see hope. We see children. There are about two hundred thousand children… and they are hope. Lord, give us these two hundred thousand children. May these two hundred thousand children hear the gospel… With this prayer, we started Sunday schools. Currently, about 2500 children gather every Saturday in Sunday schools that the Lord has allowed. This is the beginning. Lord! Have pity on these children, and may you bring the light of salvation in the hearts of these children. May the million people of Khayelitsha change through Sunday schools. May there be a Sunday school built in every block. May you accept the commitments of the Sunday school teachers, and guide the teachers who will lead.

During the last three weeks, seven more Sunday Schools have been built, in the area called SST. Also, about twenty more youths have volunteered to be teachers. Last week, we invited 10 volunteer teachers in the camp, taught them, and shared with them about starting Sunday school and teaching. In other areas, the youths who have grown up in Sunday schools wish to form youth groups meetings. Due to the lack of a place to gather, Sunday schools take place in the homes of teachers, hair salons, and garages.

The children had grown in the Sunday schools built 13 years ago, and have now become 17-year-old youths now, volunteering as teachers, gathering and loving the children, in the same Sunday schools where they had grown. This is the likeness of our Lord. Lord, we thank you. Change Khayelitsha through the children. May Your kingdom come through the children.

Please pray with us:

There are many areas within Khayelitsha where there still need Sunday schools to be built. Site B, Site C, Downtu, Makasa… Lord, these regions are your kingdom. Your people are there. Have mercy. May you build Sunday schools in these regions.
May the teachers who will commit themselves for Sunday school stand. May You accept the youths. Bless those hearts, though young, that are determined to love, follow and obey the Lord.
With the growth of Sunday schools, we are looking for the Lord’s family who are able to adopt and pray for Sunday schools. May there be found sponsors, who could adopt a Sunday school, support with love and prayer, and provide $40 a month (to cover snacks, transportation for teachers, education for teachers, children’s camps).

For the Kingdom,

Another chapter for our ministry or I have to say for God’s ministry. We are moving forward with His will, to see the goals we aimed at the beginning. Have young people interested in Children’s Church not just have interest but to get involve in Children’s Church. In this ministry we have these two combined ministries (Youth and Children’s Churches).

So last week we find interested Youth to start Children’s Church in their community. That is a thanks giving to the LORD, to give these young people heart to serve. On the weekend of 9th May we have special seminar with the new teachers.

Another privilege for the ministry is to find a name for it, Lifeboats ministry was the first choice for us,because the combination of two ministries but one. We believe it is one because we have all the same aim to build God’s Kingdom. Just more explanation about the meaning of this name, if you can take Church as the SHIP, youth and Children as LIFE-boats in that ship. A ship can not do the tour in the see without Lifeboats. Youth and Children are there to help Church in future when it start to sink or fall.

You can also explain it like this youth + Children are Lifeboats to take people safe place (harbour) And lead them.

PRAY FOR:
- The youth Church on Thursdays
- Safe traveling for the team and youth back home after the sessions.
- For me this month I practice Driving: pray for safe driving, to enjoy it and also struggle to pay those fees.
- More patience for trails in the ministry ( come back home so late)
- And I thank good I work with in Kraafontain.

Many thanks,
Wonga

Dear friends, in the mission of our Lord,

I greet you with the declaration that we live eternal lives, in the name of the Lord of all missions. We are here today because of your prayers my friends. I thank you from deep within, for your love and prayers.

Looking back at the ministries, there is nothing that is not by grace. Seeing that the Lord is using this deficient servant, I think… the Lord is in a hurry! I sought Africa with the confession ‘Here I am, Lord,’ when the Lord searched for harvesters in time of harvest. Seeing that the Lord has used a person like me for 13 years, there’s only thanks… and grace. Furthermore, it’s thankfully all due to your prayer support and love.

Last week, I made a visit to the countryside, to Transkei. It is about 800 miles away from Cape Town, where this servant reside. It takes about 12 hours to drive. It’s an area where we have raised pastors and ministers and built five churches. This time, along with a short-term team, we visited the village of Sixandi.

A witchdoctor in village of Sixandi had heard of the gospel and and built a church in the place of her house. However in 2002, the church built by the witchdoctor Nomilisi, as an answer to God’s calling, had to close down because there was no leader to take on after her death. For the last two years in frustration, I prayed for Sixandi every time we had evangelism and pastor training activities in Transkei. Lord! Shine your light of salvation upon Sixandi. Have mercy on those who are bound to the acestors’ ghosts. In prayer and dreams for evangelism, we have bought a horse for pastor James, at the church in Qebe, a town beside Sixandi. We sent two short-term teams this year for evangelism. This servant evangelized there, and met Nomilisi’s daughter. She was now living as a mature Christian of faith; she confessed that she was living by the faith although she did not have a church to serve. Furthermore, there were several people who had decided to accept Christ and were telling their testimonies and worshipping every night… The last night of our stay, I gave a sermon. I encouraged them to build a kingdom of God that is centered upon love, and to share food and clothing in spite of the poverty. I proclaimed the word that there is blessing in sharing, that there is blessing on those who are giving and not merely receiving. We shared, prayed and encouraged each other to turn the town to one that is full of love. Lord! May Sicandi practice true sharing. Reveal Your image; build Your kingdom, centered upon loving neighbors, and help them become united in love. Let them learn the beauty in uniting with God, and experience Your kingdom, and expand.

Please pray with us:

Two weeks ago, we started to construct Children’s churches in a region known as SST in Khayelitsha, with the goal being 10 children’s churches. Four have already been setup and six more will be up and running in the next two weeks. We are in the process of looking for teachers as well. Please pray that people will see God at work and that this region will be changed through Sunday school. May the newly committed teachers know the Lord more, treasure the word, and love the children.

May the needs for the growth of children’s church be met in ways of the Lord; May there be fulfillment in the need of snacks, teachers’ training, camp expenses, and children’s church building constructions.

May our family (Kyung-Hwan: Han-Dong University, Mi-Jung: Grade 11) follow the Lord more wholly and take after Him more…

Dear loved partners in prayer,

I love you. I thank you earnestly for having participated in the spiritual war for Africa with your prayer.

For the last two times, you have heard of the spirit of Satan oppressing Africa. Today, I would like to share about another force of Satan that is keeping Africa from the word.

Satan has planted fear deep in the hearts of African people. Disguised as ancestral ghosts, Satan has planted fear in their hearts and bound them to these ancestral ghosts. It has taught the people that they become ancestral ghosts when they die, and that if they did not worship the ghosts that this will bring problems and hardships into their lives. It makes people use witch doctors to call the ancestors and give and take messages from them. One of the reasons why funerals are becoming larger with increasing attendance is that people do not want to anger the ghosts from the recent death and bring harm to their households. The ancestral ghosts are easily angered and cause more harm than blessing the families. Thus, they are taught that they need to treat the ancestral ghosts right, and listen to the witch doctors who call the ancestral ghosts.

Whether it is after a car accident, a husband’s affair, losing a job, being sick etc, the witch doctors points to objects of criticism and offers solution like sacrificing a lamb or cattle, making charms, or performing exorcism. Traditionally, the men are circumcised when they turn 18 years old. This is a ritual dedicated to the ancestral ghosts. A ritual calling the ancestral ghosts is required whenever an animal is killed. As they are told that the ghosts live amongst the animals, this is also a reason why women stay far away. Whoever fears these ghosts greatly, becomes spiritless and weak, or end living as they have been told.

The most quickly growing church in Africa is Zion church. As a cultic religious group that worships both Jesus and ancestral ghosts, it is growing rapidly and totals 60% of the whole population of people attending church. It is because the culture of worshipping the ancestors’ ghosts is deeply rooted in them, that the root of their faith cannot reach as far deep even after they have accepted Christ in their lives. The black people’s government discusses with the witch doctors whenever they make a decision.

Our faith is worshipping Jesus only—relying on and worshipping God only. God hates mixing principles. If there is anything that can be seen in the bible that God really hates the most, it is worshipping other gods.

Africa is not a problematic continent. It is not a symbol of poverty. Satan has covered people’s eyes, disguised its identity as ancestor’s ghost, planted fear in their hearts, and made them slaves of ancestor’s ghosts. Please pray against Satan.

Every night at 10 o’clock, I ask you to pray together with us, and command Satan, who is oppressing Africa, to leave for good. If you pray at 10pm from all over the world, then the prayer against Satan will not cease for 24 hours, and Africa will be a land of hopes, the kingdom of God.
Please pray as follows:

Dirty and filthy spirit! Satan, who has covered up the eyes of African people and left them in their selfish living! Let your hands be bound forever in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth! We command you to leave forever from Africa, in the name of Christ of Nazareth!

Dirty and filthy Satan! Satan, who is covering the eyes of African people from seeing the future and made the people slaves of the past! In the name of Jesus Christ, we command you to leave Africa for good!

Dirty and filthy spirit, who are disguised as their ancestor’s ghost, and made the people spiritless and weak, we command you to leave in the name of Jesus Christ! Leave Africa for good! We tie you down with eternal chains, in the name of Christ, and you will let go of African people… God! May your kingdom come in the land of Africa…

Through prayers for Africa at 10 pm all over the world, Africa will become a new land and new sky through commands against Satan in the name of Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom,
Missionary Young Ohm

My eternal brother, my eternal sister

I hope you are well! I’m so sorry I have not written for so long! Time has gone so quickly! I am so thankful for you and for the abundant life that we have in Christ!

A few updates:
Thank you for your prayers for the patient who had very advanced lung cancer last year. She passed away. She was very tired of fighting and I believe in the end, she let go. However, before she died she repented of her sins and asked Christ to be her Lord. I know we will see her again one day and I am just praying for her daughter to also know Him and His peace.

I recently attended the Northwest Naturopathic Physicians Conference in Seattle, Washington and was greatly inspired by all the amazing doctors that I met from every kind of background. I pray that every day I may be a better instrument in His hands to bring healing to others – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually…etc.

We have completed the 2nd edition of our training manual. Please let us know if you would like an electronic copy. It is useful to train any mission team or for training for the missionary-oriented life, Kingdom lifestyle.

We are in the process of putting up a new website. Please continue to check http://africanleadership.info for new updates.

We have quite a few teams this year and I’ll be going back to South Africa to help lead some of them. I’ll be leaving June 10th and I’ll be gone about 2 months.

A few things I’ve been thinking about lately:

From our training manual: “Rely on Christ. “Christ is alive in you and in your coworkers, even though they may act differently and behave differently than you. Dietrich Bonhoffer reminds us in Life Together that we dare not relate directly to one another. We must allow Christ to be our intermediary – the bridge between us as we relate to one another through him.” – Tim Dearborn

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross!
-Philippians 2:5-8

Life is simple – just trust and obey. We came into the world with nothing. Everything we have and do comes from God. Our life’s purpose is wrapped up in Christ. All we have to do is trust and obey Him. Live for Him. I love this song by Matt Redman, “If you know you’re loved by the King, live for Him, live for Him, live for Him…”

As we look at God, may we rise above our circumstances to remember who we are in His everlasting Kingdom, so that we can live as citizens of the Eternal Kingdom, not only of this earth which will fade and wilt and pass away one day… may we store up treasures in Heaven and not on earth… may what is dear to us be what is dear to Him… may our passions be His passions… may His boundless, infinite love be known by us daily so that we can love beyond our human limitations so that He might be glorified!

May your life be filled with His love, joy and peace my dear brother, my dear sister!

With love and blessings,
For the Kingdom,
Tobi Lin

The time has once again come to be able to be infused in God’s work in South Africa. I am excited, eager, and ready in anticipation to witness the incredible things that God has in store for our team.

I am humbled to have such a great support of friends and family who I know will journey alongside our team through prayer.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor 3:17-18.

This is my prayer for our team. That our team will not be fixated on making sure everything runs smoothly and not being disappointed if things don’t go according to plans, but experience the freedom when we rely on the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that our team will listen and act upon the Spirit, and go with the boldness and power that is found in Christ.

There are only 4 of us (Helen Lee, Samuel Kim, Audrey Choi), and it’s probably the only time that I’ve ever been in a group and been the tallest, but even though we may be small in number and range from youth to adult, we are huge in excitement, gifts and talents, passion, humility, teachability, and good looks.

We will be serving South Africa from Jul 3 to Jul 19. We will have the blessing to be able to dive into the township culture within Khayelitsha (City Life) and Transkei Culture (Rural Life) where we will serve through children’s ministry, sunday school ministry, youth programs, sports programs, evangelism, labour, and pre-school ministries.

Our days will be long and busy so do pray for our health and safety so we can give all that our bodies can give in order share the love of God to our brothers and sisters in South Africa.

Thank-you for journeying alongside our team in extending God’s Kingdom in South Africa. Our team is encouraged and strengthened through your prayers.

As we experience the freedom that is found in Christ through our journey, I pray that you as well will share in that freedom as well.

Preschool – Thanksgiving for the Mfuleni preschool starting next week. Pray for the 2 teachers that they can love the children and understand the preschool ministry, as a method of delivering God’s message. New preschool building in Greenpoint. Pray that we can finish it. Pray for Glory continually as she does the teachers’ training program and starts Bible study with some of the teachers.

Children’s Church – Pray for the teachers continually for their commitment. Now it’s the winter season, it’s not easy sometimes. Rain comes sometimes and prevents the children’s churches from meeting. Pray for God’s provision of good weather every Saturday at 10am. Pray for continual development of the cdhilren’s church. We are still praying for 1000 children’s churches to be raised up.

Primary School Ministry – Many schools are not organized enough to receive our ministry. Sometimes, they are not prepared for our coordinators to go in and serve. Pray that the schools will be organized enough and see the benefit of our ministry on the children.

Netball Ministry – Thanksgiving for the coaches’ camp last weekend. They had a re-dedication for the ministry. Pray for the coaches continually. The ministry is planning a trip to another city. They are forming a representative team and starting Bible study. Let them be ready to share the Gospel to other cities. Pray for their fundraising for their expenses for this trip.

Soccer Ministry – They started league. Pray for all the young people involved in the league – that more of them will except Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

High School Ministry – Continue to pray for their Saturday gathering. Pray for all the chosen leaders to grow continually and lead others well into the presence of Jesus. Now the schools are starting to be more closed to outsiders so please pray for wisdom and God’s leading as we approach schools to share the Character First Ministry.

Kraaifontein Ministry – Pray for Vanessa, Wonga and Lucky who are developing the youth program – to find more teachers. Thanksgiving for 3 more youth who are starting children’s churches in Kraaifontein. Pray for the first children’s church camp in the first weekend of June. Pray for the leaders’ preparation for the camp. Pray for God’s provision of land for the youth centre in Kraaifontein.

Automechanic Ministry – Thanksgiving that we’ve put some equipment into the building. Now we are editing the curriculum. Pray for patience and success in developing the final presentation of the curriculum.

Bible College – Winter is coming. It’s hard for those students who are working during the day and come to school afterwards in the dark and cold – pray that they will be encouraged and experience God’s Presence. Praise God that we received 200 sets of pastors’ training books (2000 books) in the Ethiopian language. Pray for the Ethiopians classes continually that through their hardships, they will really learn to trust and follow the Lord.

Women’s Ministry – Thanksgiving for Rose who has joined the women’s ministry. They meet on Fridays. We are trying to develop the women’s ministry through the mothers in the preschool.

Madagascar – Pray for political stability and God’s ways in the government. Pray that we will be granted permission to start mobile medical clinics.

Short Term Missionaries – Many teams are coming. Pray that they will bring much blessings to Africa!

Long Term Coordinators/Missionaries: Continual growth in personal relationship, dependence and faith in God! Daily renewal in Christ and filling of His Spirit. Increased grace, love and encouragement to one another. For greater awareness of the enemy’s strategies and victory over them through Christ. We can do nothing on our own strength!

The way to express the kingdom of God has changed.

The vertical relationship is in a one-dimensional time: We had built a pyramid- structured society by developing the vertical relationship with God as well as with humans. However, Jesus came to the earth and showed that there was another type of relationship we could have with God which was horizontal and He saved us by dying upon the cross.

Humans have understood Jesus in the vertical relationship but God showed us the horizontal relationship by showing His will with the rise of individualism. It took 2000 years for us to understand the concept of the horizontal relationship with God.

By that time, God also gave us the Holy Spirit as a gift in the third dimension of time and it also took 2000 years for us to understand this concept. In other words, in the one dimension, people obeyed and feared God and followed his will by being humble in their relationship with God.

In the second dimension, it was all about Jesus. He came to this world and he died upon the cross. In this time, people tried to be like Jesus and to live as his followers and Jesus was the centre of the way to express the kingdom of God and people expressed the kingdom of God by following Jesus.

In the third-dimensional time, we have the Holy Spirit and we build the kingdom of God with the Holy Spirit. In other words, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, humans as the centre shows God who is omnipresent. Each individual Christian is writing their own bible based on the relationship they have with God. It is also the time that each of us represent God and by that we can express the recovery of the Kingdom of the universal God. In this time, everything has to be for the kingdom of God, to be revived and to show the kingdom of God.

In the 21st century,
To show the glory of God in the universe,
To express God’s will all over the world,
To see God in all of His creation.

To show His glory in us,
To see His Kingdom in our home,
To make our work place Hhis Kingdom,

To make the economy show His kingdom,
To make politics represent His image,
To make schools be the schools in His kingdom,

To make our relationship with each other express His kingdom,
To make our words be the words of His kingdom,
To make our thoughts be the thoughts of His kingdom,

Eat for the kingdom,
Work for the kingdom,
Study for the kingdom,
Meet people for the kingdom,
Exclaim, ” for the kingdom!” in every moment.

For the kingdom,
Ohm, Young Heum.
