Our purpose

African Leadership exists to raise up servant leaders who know their identity and purpose in Christ and who are motivated by active, personal relationships with the True and Living God.  African Leadership exists to mobilize churches and individuals and release their inherent God-given potential through their participation in building the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in Africa.

What are our priorities?

  1. Indigenous leadership – Partnerships rooted first in our citizenship as Eternal Kingdom Family members.
  2. Servant Ministry – Jesus taught that being a true leader is humbling oneself to serve others.
  3. Wholistic Ministry – God designed and cares for every aspect of our lives, including, body, mind, soul, community, vocation…and so on.
  4. Goal Orientation – We aim to align ourselves with God’s plans and purposes.
  5. Maximized Resources – Everything we are and everything we have is from Him and for Him.
  6. Contemporary Response – The world is changing constantly so we need to adjust and adapt ourselves continually so that we can meet its needs in an effective way.
  7. Cooperation & Coordination – Every person has gifts, capabilities and resources; may we enable others to fulfill their God-given potential.
  8. Commitment – What happens tomorrow depends on our commitment today.
  9. Knowing Our limits – When we know our limits, we can develop ourselves further, know how to work with others and how to pray.
  10. Discipleship – We can help each other to become more like Christ by following Christ ourselves.
  11. Ministry Before Infrastructure – Structure only as necessary for ministry.  If the system is not conducive to ministry, it much be changed.
  12. For the Kingdom – Everything we are and do is for God’s Kingdom.  We want His Kingdom to come in fullness where we are!

History

African Leadership has been active in South Africa since 1996 but became an official organization in South Africa in the year 2000 and a charity in Canada in 2002.  Rev. Young Huem Ohm (”Pastor Ohm”), his wife Young Ae and their children Aaron and Priscilla arrived in South Africa in 1996.  Immediately and since then, the Lord has been bringing others to work together to fulfill His purposes in South Africa, surrounding countries and beyond.  By the Lord’s will and enabling, the ministry expanded quickly and continues to expand today.  Because of a similar vision with African Leadership in the USA to see the people of Africa know the Lord, fulfill their God-given potential and become Christ-like leaders to their own people, we adopted the same name of “African Leadership”.

Ministry was happening and would’ve continued by the Lord’s leading but an official organization of “African Leadership” was started out of necessity for  better communication and more effective development of the ministry.

With about 20 members on staff, both locally and abroad, we are currently reaching out and serving more than 6,000 people on a daily basis in the Cape Town area.
